Clear Aligners

woman smiling with clear alignerTransparent Clear Aligners straighten your teeth without fixed orthodontic appliances. Instead, a series of removable trays snap over your teeth to gently nudge them into place.

The contoured shape of Clear Aligners makes them more comfortable and easier to care for. There aren’t any fixed appliances to brush or floss around. Simply remove them for home care and during meals.

Types of Clear Aligners

Invisalign® is one of the most popular types of clear aligners on the market. However, it’s not the only one that’s effective. Our practice offers an alignment system similar to Invisalign, called Clear Aligners. They are essentially identical, providing advantages like:

  • Removable, custom-fitted trays
  • Freedom to enjoy your favourite foods
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • No fixed wires or brackets
  • Essentially invisible

What to Expect

Straightening your teeth with Clear Aligners is simple and straightforward. Wear your aligners all day, every day, except when you’re eating or brushing your teeth. Then change them out as directed, which is usually once every 1-2 weeks. We’ll send a series of trays home with you in advance, limiting the number of trips back-and-forth to our office.

Everyone’s teeth straightening needs are different. Clear Aligners work effectively for a variety of tooth misalignment scenarios. However, the exact length of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your bite and if you’re wearing the aligners as directed. Most people complete their Clear Aligners treatment in 12-18 months.

Adults Make Excellent Candidates

Clear Aligners are beneficial for our adult patients who want straighter teeth but prefer not to wear traditional braces. Their versatility and low-profile appearance make fitting orthodontic treatment into your schedule as easy as possible. There are no age cut-offs, so adults of all ages can benefit from this unique treatment option.

FAQs

How do Clear Aligners or Invisalign Work?

Both of these popular invisible orthodontic aligner brands use a series of clear, removable trays to nudge your teeth into the desired position. As you switch to the next set of aligners every 1-2 weeks, your teeth will continually be guided closer to the pre-programmed alignment. The entire system is digitally mapped out in advance, which is how the aligners are available ahead of time.

Can I eat with my aligners on my teeth?

It’s important not to eat or drink anything (other than water) with your aligners. Otherwise they can wear out or trap food against your teeth, putting them at risk for decay. Remove your aligners during meals or snacks. Then rinse your mouth out thoroughly with water before putting your aligners back on your teeth.

How often will I need to schedule an appointment?

Typical invisible braces patients who change their aligners out at home will usually need one appointment about every other month. We will send the aligners with you in advance so that you can continue making progression between trips to our office.

Are Clear Aligners or Invisalign invisible?

Translucent orthodontic trays like Invisalign or Clear Aligners are practically invisible to the people around you. Most people will not be able to see anything on your teeth unless they’re looking from a few inches away.
